Two week ago I posted on my Instagram that you can ‘Ask Me Anything’ and oh dear, I got a lot of DMs as well as on the question-sticker on my Insta-Stories. My Insta-family asked me questions regarding photography, business, Insta-engagement, weddings, personal life, and so on.
Although I’ve shared the answers on Insta-Live, some of these questions asked are just so witty and useful for many that I decided to share a written blog post of it. You know, incase a year or two from today, someone searches for them.
I categorized them in three sections, questions from Brides, from Entrepreneur & Photographer Friends, & General/Personal Questions! Hope you learn a lot and enjoy reading them…
You asked, and here are my answers:
Photography + Business
Q. What’s your favorite social media platform? For business & personal use.
A. Hmmm….this questions really made me think. Although Instagram is my absolute favorite for both personal & professional use, surprisingly Pinterest brings the most traffic to my blog. Youtube will come in third as I spend too much time on it… 😉
Q. All the weddings are postponed/cancelled and clients are not willing to pay the regular prices for the services. What do I do?
A. Think of it as both = an opportunity + a test. Use this time to work on things that you’ve been putting off: website, blog, marketing plan, social media plan, etc. Prepare yourself & DO things that will help you succeed faster when the busy season hits.
Q. I got an enquiry for a collaboration from an influencer who isn’t catering directly to my target audience. Do you recommend I do the collab?
A. Absolutely! Knowing that your business is in initial stages, collaborating with influencers will bring it forward & in-front of your audience. Even if the influencer isn’t catering to your targeted audience, think of herself as your client and do the collaboration anyways ‘as long as your costs are covered’.
Q. How do we stay in business during this pandemic? I have nothing to post on Insta.
A. Now that the moving restrictions have eased, try these two things (a) create new content or (b) re-create your old content in new ways. Only 4% of your followers get to see your work. When you post something on Instagram, only 4 out of 100 have seen it so don’t be afraid to post again for the remaining 96 followers of yours. Weddings
Q. What’s your advice for the brides?
A. Oh girl, I’ve written countless blogs for future brides that are filled with advices. For a quick read, click here for my advice for brides on a budget. If you still insist, I highly advice brides to focus on the marriage, more than the wedding day.
Q. How do I trust wedding vendors (especially decorators and makeup artist) that I have not worked with before?
A. I highly suggest you ask for recommendations from trusted family/friends, see the vendors’ work, shortlist them, make appointments, meet them in person. Their personality will tell you all. Go with your gut feeling.
Q. I want my wedding day to be perfect. How?
A. I can go on and on about this one but I’ll keep it to the point: (a) be organized (b) plan a timeline for the wedding day (c) communicate well (d) have fun.
General + PersonalÂ
Q. What did you study in college? Photography?
A. Not at allllll! I went to Rutgers University in New Jersey on full scholarship & graduated with a bachelors degree in two majors: marketing & management. For photography, I learned from the university of Google 😉 , trials & errors, as well as taking online classes.
Q. Have you bought followers on Instagram?
A. I personally never have because I strongly believe that other people have followers & fans, I have Friends, and you can’t pay people to be your friend. Anybody following me on Instagram, Facebook, or subscribed to my Youtube channel, I didn’t pay for them or for the fake bots because it does nothing except for hurting your organic engagement. I like to keep it authentic & real for people who are genuinely following me,
Q. What’s your Zodiac Sign?
A. I’m a hard-core Leo ♌
Q. How do you get topics/ideas for the blog posts?
A. Almost all the blogs I have shared for photographers came from questions people have asked me on Instagram or email. The blogs I shared for future brides came from observations. I saw what brides are struggling with & then write blogs around the topics to prevent future brides from the headache. Other than that, I share the weddings I’m covering and personal posts every now and then.
