Small Things vs. Big Things

My phone rang again flashing an unknown/unsaved number.

Her: Hey, is John there?
This was the same woman who called me 3-4 times earlier.

Me: Um…No. U called Me again.
Her: Oh my god. I’m so sorry.
Me: That’s fine. I know you’ve been trying to look for him. Is he okay?
Her: Well, I don’t know. He’s my step brother.
Me: I hope you find him. And I also hope that he’s ok.
Her: Thank you. You are very sweet.
Me: Thank you. Why don’t you try looking him up on yellow pages. U know, through his last name or something? Cause I’ve had this number since last year.  He must have had this number or something like it before that.
Her: Me and my sister tried all that.  Its been a while since we’ve been searching for him. I sent him emails and stuff…..we tried all that. [3 second pause] You are very nice. God Bless You my dear. I’ll call you and let you know whenever I find him.
Me: Yes, that would be nice. Cause I’ll be worrying too.
Her:  I could tell that from your voice. Thank you again. Take care. bye now.
Me: Thank you. And you too. bye.

It always amuses me how a small conversation, two words of sympathy, talk of comfort, can actually mean a world to someone. We didn’t know each other. Religion, ethnicity, culture, color, etc comes in wayyyy later. All I knew was that she was worried for her brother. I understood her pain. So I tried my best remembering that no deed is small.

As I always say…

[[ Its the Small things that make the Big things matter ]]

Small Steps

So take small steps.
Go make someone Smile.
Help someone in need.
Who knows, someone will do the same when you’ll need it.

People who keep love for others in their heart, never fall apart!
